===Maternal haplogroups===
According to a 2010 study, slightly more than 50% of Uzbeks from [[Tashkent]] belong to East Eurasian and South Asian [[Human mitochondrial DNA haplogroup|maternal haplogroups]], while nearly 50% belong to West Eurasian haplogroups.<ref name="Irwin" />
