The first World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was held in Geneva in 2003. [[Tunisia]] hosted the second World Summit in November 2005. The Tunisian government took the initiative to host the summit in 1998. It was organised by the [[International Telecommunication Union]] (ITU) under the auspices of [[UNESCO]].
