Based on data from the [[2010 United States Census]], the population of St. Albans was 48,593, a change of −1,453 (−3%) from the 50,046 counted in [[2000 United States Census|2000]]. Rent burden, or the percentage of residents who have difficulty paying their rent, is 56% in St. Albans and Jamaica, higher than the boroughwide and citywide rates of 53% and 51% respectively.
