===2000 census===
As of the [[census]] of 2000, there were 1,450 people, 529 households, and 405 families living in the city. The population density was {{convert|2,655.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 544 housing units at an average density of {{convert|996.1|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the city was 98.69% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.21% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.21% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.14% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.76% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.45% of the population.

There were 529 households, out of which 38.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% were non-families. 19.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.16.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.6% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.6 males.

As of 2000 the median income for a household in the city was $48,083, and the median income for a family was $54,236. Males had a median income of $36,193 versus $23,950 for females. About 1.9% of families and 2.6% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 3.1% of those under age 18 and 4.8% of those age 65 or over.
