===2010 census=== As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2010, there were 11,964 people, 4,202 households, and 2,880 families residing in the town. The population density was {{convert|517.9|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 4,855 housing units at an average density of 210.2 units per square mile (81.3/km{{sup|2}}). The racial makeup of the town was 47.2% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 36.3% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 3.0% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.5% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 5.1% [[Race (United States Census)|some other race]], and 6.9% from two or more races. The average household size was 2.65, and the average family size was 3.21.<ref name="2010 Demographics"/> In the town, the population was spread out, with 31.2% under the age of 18, 19.3% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 13.0% from 45 to 64, and 4.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 24.9 years. For every 100 females, there were 104.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.2 males.<ref name="2010 Demographics"/> For the period 2009β13, the estimated median annual income for a household in the town was $36,538, and the median income for a family was $38,243. Male full-time workers had a median income of $34,921 versus $29,473 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the town was $15,852.
