===2000 census=== As of the [[2000 United States census]]<ref name="GR2" /> there were 3,567 people, 1,463 households, and 983 families residing in the borough. The population density was {{convert|2,723.8|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 1,930 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1,473.7|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the borough was 98.77% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.34% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.28% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.11% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.50% from two or more races. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.03.<ref name=Census2000/><ref name=Census2000SF1/> In the borough the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 19.6% from 25 to 44, 28.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females, there were 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.2 males.<ref name=Census2000/><ref name=Census2000SF1/> As of 2008, the median income for a household in the borough was $115,709.
