==Government==
Sogndal Municipality is responsible for [[primary education]] (through 10th grade), outpatient [[Health care|health services]], [[old age|senior citizen]] services, [[welfare spending|welfare]] and other [[Social work|social services]], [[zoning]], [[economic development]], and municipal [[road]]s and utilities. The municipality is governed by a [[Municipal council (Norway)|municipal council]] of [[Direct election|directly elected]] representatives. ===Education===
With more than 2,000 students in the municipality, Sogndal is the educational center of [[Vestland]] County. Students from all over [[Norway]] come to Sogndal and they create a high level of activity, which is hard to find in places of similar size.

[[Western Norway University of Applied Sciences]] is one of the main employers in Sogndal. The [[Western Norway Research Institute]] is located within the campus, but it is an independent institution with special expertise in information communication, technology systems, environmental research, and organizational research.
