==Operation==

Semi-automatic rifles use [[gas-operated reloading|gas]], [[blow forward|blow-forward]], [[blowback (arms)|blow-back]], or [[recoil operation|recoil]] energy to eject the casing after a round has been fired, to chamber a new cartridge from the [[magazine (firearms)|magazine]], and to reset the [[action (firearm)|action]].
