Albania has a [[multi-party]] system, with numerous parties in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must collaborate in order to form [[coalition government]]s. The two major parties are the [[Socialist Party of Albania]] (PS) and the [[Democratic Party of Albania]] (PD). Albania also has a number of minor parties. Following is a list of political parties with elected representation at the national level in the [[Parliament of Albania|Parliament]] following the general [[2021 Albanian parliamentary election|parliamentary elections]] of 2021.

In the [[2023 Albanian local elections]] the [[Democratic Party of Albania]] (PD) were not allowed to register their candidates, a court upheld that decision accordingly the [[Socialist Party of Albania]] (PS) won most seats.
