The racial makeup of the town was 92.28% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.03% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.06% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 4.49% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.02% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.10% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.02% from two or more races. Munster consistently leans towards the [[Democratic Party (United States)|Democratic Party]] nationally while for municipal elections, the town leans towards the [[Republican Party (United States)|Republican Party]]. Federally, Munster is situated in [[Indiana's 1st congressional district]], which is represented by Democrat [[Frank J. Mrvan]].
