In [[Islam]], special attention is paid to mothers. [[Quran]] the holy book of [[Muslims]] has mentioned the status and respect of [[Mother]] in many verses: Surah [[Al-Isra'|Al-Isra]], verse 23, [[Al-Ahqaf]], verse 15, [[Luqman (sūrah)|Luqman]], verse 14 and [[Al-Baqara|Al-Baqarah]], verse 233, is one of them.

In [[Hindu]] tradition, Mother's Day is called "[[Matatirtha Aunsi|Mata Tirtha Aunshi]]" or "Mother Pilgrimage fortnight", and is celebrated in countries with a Hindu population, especially in Nepal, where mothers are honored with special foods. The holiday is observed on the new moon day in the month of [[Baisakh]], i.e., April/May.
