In his later years, Perutz was a regular reviewer/essayist for ''[[The New York Review of Books]]'' on biomedical subjects. In August 1985, ''[[The New Yorker]]'' published his account of his experiences as an internee during World War II, titled "That Was the War: Enemy Alien".
