Its Köppen climate classification is Cfa, which means it has a temperate climate, does not have a dry season, and has a hot summer. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, Lewisville is in a hardiness zone of 8a.USDA The city is seldom affected by extreme weather, but Hurricane Carla in 1961 brought 86 mph winds and caused 6 ft swells on Lewisville Lake. During heavy rains, Timber Creek can overflow its banks, and on rare occasions, flood some of the surrounding homes.Stoler The National Weather Service defines no official borders for Tornado Alley, but Lewisville is considered to be in it.NCDC {{Weather box |location = Lewisville, Texas |single line = Y | collapsed = yes| Jan record high F = 90 |Feb record high F = 96 |Mar record high F = 99 |Apr record high F = 102 |May record high F = 107 |Jun record high F = 108 |Jul record high F = 113 |Aug record high F = 113 |Sep record high F = 111 |Oct record high F = 103 |Nov record high F = 99 |Dec record high F = 89 |year record high F= 113 |Jan high F = 53.3 |Feb high F = 59.2 |Mar high F = 67.2 |Apr high F = 74.4 |May high F = 81.7 |Jun high F = 89.2 |Jul high F = 94.1 |Aug high F = 93.5 |Sep high F = 86.1 |Oct high F = 76.3 |Nov high F = 64.1 |Dec high F = 56.0 |year high F= 74.6 |Jan mean F= 42.7 |Feb mean F= 48.0 |Mar mean F= 55.9 |Apr mean F= 63.4 |May mean F= 71.6 |Jun mean F= 79.1 |Jul mean F= 83.6 |Aug mean F= 82.7 |Sep mean F= 75.6 |Oct mean F= 65.3 |Nov mean F= 53.6 |Dec mean F= 45.4 |Jan low F = 32.0 |Feb low F = 36.8 |Mar low F = 44.6 |Apr low F = 52.4 |May low F = 61.4 |Jun low F = 69.0 |Jul low F = 73.1 |Aug low F = 71.9 |Sep low F = 65.0 |Oct low F = 54.3 |Nov low F = 43.0 |Dec low F = 34.8 |year low F= 53.2 |Jan record low F = −3 |Feb record low F = −2 |Mar record low F = 5 |Apr record low F = 23 |May record low F = 35 |Jun record low F = 48 |Jul record low F = 51 |Aug record low F = 52 |Sep record low F = 36 |Oct record low F = 16 |Nov record low F = 10 |Dec record low F = 0 |year record low F= −3 |precipitation colour = green |Jan precipitation inch = 1.94 |Feb precipitation inch = 2.55 |Mar precipitation inch = 2.82 |Apr precipitation inch = 3.30 |May precipitation inch = 5.41 |Jun precipitation inch = 3.29 |Jul precipitation inch = 2.53 |Aug precipitation inch = 2.26 |Sep precipitation inch = 3.35 |Oct precipitation inch = 4.81 |Nov precipitation inch = 2.87 |Dec precipitation inch = 2.66 |year precipitation inch= 37.79 |Jan snow inch = .2 |Feb snow inch = .5 |Mar snow inch = .1 |Apr snow inch = 0 |May snow inch = 0 |Jun snow inch = 0 |Jul snow inch = 0 |Aug snow inch = 0 |Sep snow inch = 0 |Oct snow inch = 0 |Nov snow inch = 0 |Dec snow inch = .3 |year snow inch= 1.1 |Jan precipitation days = 6.7 |Feb precipitation days = 6.1 |Mar precipitation days = 7.0 |Apr precipitation days = 7.1 |May precipitation days = 8.4 |Jun precipitation days = 6.4 |Jul precipitation days = 4.4 |Aug precipitation days = 4.7 |Sep precipitation days = 5.8 |Oct precipitation days = 6.8 |Nov precipitation days = 6.8 |Dec precipitation days = 6.5 |year precipitation days= 76.7 |unit precipitation days = 0.01 in |Jan snow days = .4 |Feb snow days = .2 |Mar snow days = .1 |Apr snow days = 0 |May snow days = 0 |Jun snow days = 0 |Jul snow days = 0 |Aug snow days = 0 |Sep snow days = 0 |Oct snow days = 0 |Nov snow days = .1 |Dec snow days = .2 |year snow days= 1 |unit snow days = 0.1 in |source 1 = NOAA (1971–2000)NOAA |date=September 2011 }}
