As of the [[census]] of 2013, there were 71,551 people, 26,111 households, and 16,637 families residing in the city. The population density was {{convert|697.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 28,321 housing units at an average density of {{convert|304.7|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the city was 74.7% [[Race (United States Census)|White]], 18.4% [[Race (United States Census)|Black]], 0.4% [[Race (United States Census)|Native American]], 1.5% [[Race (United States Census)|Asian]], 0.03% [[Race (United States Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.0% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.0% from two or more races. 5.2% of the population were [[Race (United States Census)|Hispanic]].<ref name="GR2">{{cite web |title=U.S. Census website |url=https://www.census.gov |access-date=January 31, 2008 |publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]}}</ref>

There were 26,111 households, out of which 30.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.4% were non-families. There are 878 unmarried partner households: 776 heterosexual, 50 same-sex male, and 52 same-sex female households. 27.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.93.<ref name="GR2" />

In the city, the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 16.6% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.8 males.<ref name="GR2" />

The median income for a household in the city was $32,196, and the median income for a family was $42,082. Males had a median income of $21,633 versus $31,633 for females.
