===Post-war career===
After the war, Clavell was promoted to war-substantive [[Lieutenant (British Army and Royal Marines)|lieutenant]], with effect from 1&nbsp;August 1942,<ref name="Army_List">{{cite book |url=https://archive.org/details/armylistaugpart121946grea/page/776/mode/2up |title=The Quarterly Army List (August 1946 – Part I) |date=1946 |publisher=[[HM Stationery Office]] |location=London |page=548x}}</ref> and to temporary [[Captain (British Army and Royal Marines)|captain]] on 10&nbsp;June 1946,<ref name="Army_List"/> A motorcycle [[Traffic collision|crash]], however, ended his military career.
