Farther west in Wyoming, the Interstate passes through the dry [[Red Desert (Wyoming)|Red Desert]] and over the [[Continental Divide]]. In a way, the highway crosses the Divide twice, since two ridges of the [[Rocky Mountains]] split in Wyoming, forming the [[endorheic basin|endorheic]] [[Great Divide Basin]], from which surface water cannot drain but can only evaporate.
