The historic parish church of Harmondsworth is the church of St Mary, of which parts date from the 12th century.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=22386 |title=Harmondsworth: Church &#124; British History Online |publisher=British-history.ac.uk |access-date=2016-06-21}}</ref><ref>{{NHLE |num=1194332 |desc=Grade I |access-date=30 January 2012}}</ref> There is an opinion<ref>{{cite web|url=http://chancelrepairliability.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/is-heathrow-airport-responsible-for.html|title=Chancel Repair Liability: Is Heathrow Airport responsible for a Chancel?|access-date=21 June 2016}}</ref> that [[Heathrow Airport]] is legally responsible for maintaining this church's chancel, because the airport now owns land (formerly in [[Heathrow (hamlet)|Heathrow village]]) which in 1819 at the [[enclosing]] of the commons had been assigned in lieu of [[tithe]]s used to maintain the chancel.
