Two climates predominate. One is fairly hot and dominates in the south and southeast portions of the municipality. The other is temperate and dominates the rest of the territory, including the city. In the warmer areas, temperatures can reach as high as {{convert|36|C|F|0}} in the summer and in the coldest area can get as low as {{convert|3|C|F|0}} in the winter. Average temperature overall is {{convert|18.5|C|F|1}} with an average annual precipitation of between {{convert|600|and|840|mm|1|abbr=on}}. Most of the rain falls during the monsoon season between June and September.<ref name="encmuc"/>
