===1974 Summit Series and WHA All-Star Games=== {{main|1974 Summit Series}} Howe was named with sons Mark and Marty to the WHA version of Team Canada for an eight-game series against the Soviet Union. Playing on a line with son Mark and [[Ralph Backstrom]], Howe contributed seven points in seven games at age 46. The Soviets won the series four wins to Canada's one, and with three ties.<ref name=1974summit/> In the final season of the WHA, Howe had the opportunity to play with Wayne Gretzky in the [[1979 WHA All-Star Games]].
