===Climate===
Under the [[Köppen climate classification]] Fruita has a [[cold semi-arid climate]] (''BSk''). Seasonal differences between the hot summers and cold winters are drastic. Even so, winter days average well above freezing due to solar warming during daytime. The coldest and hottest months of the year are January and July respectively. The annual average precipitation is {{convert|9.89|inch|mm}}; the wettest year being 1957 with {{convert|18.08|in|mm|1|disp=or}} and the driest 1952 with {{convert|4.58|in|mm|1|disp=or}}<ref name=NOAA/> The wettest month has been August 1957 with {{convert|4.31|in|mm|1|disp=or}} and the wettest day October 15, 1928 with {{convert|2.20|in|mm|1|disp=or}}.

Due to the low precipitation, in spite of winter average lows of about {{convert|15|F|C|1|disp=or}}, the average year sees just {{convert|3|in|m|sigfig=2|disp=or}} of snow on the ground at the accumulation maximum.<ref name=NOWData/> The most snowfall in one month has been {{convert|30.9|in|m|sigfig=2|disp=or}} in January 1957 and the most in a season {{convert|40.7|in|m|sigfig=2|disp=or}} between July 1938 and June 1939. In contrast, only {{convert|0.7|in|m|sigfig=2|disp=or}} of snow fell between July 1980 and June 1981. The most snowfall in one day has been {{convert|14.0|in|m|sigfig=2|disp=or}} on November 27, 1919.

The average annual freeze-free period is 145 days. The average annual temperature is around {{convert|52|F|C|1|disp=or}}.<ref name=NOAA/> Fruita experiences an average of 300 days of sunshine per year.
