The 2020 census recorded a population of 15,627 in the county, with a population density of {{Pop density|15627|501.932440|sqmi|km2}}. 96.21% of the population reported being of one race. There were 7,314 housing units of which 6,674 were occupied.<ref name=cen2020/>

The [[population density]] was {{convert|34|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|people&nbsp;|people}}. There were 7,317 housing units at an average density of {{convert|15|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}. The racial makeup of the county was 98.11% [[Race (United States Census)|White]], 0.23% [[Race (United States Census)|Black]] or [[Race (United States Census)|African American]], 0.09% [[Race (United States Census)|Native American]], 0.43% [[Race (United States Census)|Asian]], 0.09% [[Race (United States Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.44% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.60% from two or more races. 1.31% of the population were [[Race (United States Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Race (United States Census)|Latino]] of any race.

There were 6,828 households, out of which 30.50% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.70% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.70% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.00% were non-families. 28.00% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.60% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.92.

The median income for a household in the county was $35,237, and the median income for a family was $41,133. Males had a median income of $30,285 versus $20,867 for females.
