Flores is part of the [[East Nusa Tenggara]] province. The island along with smaller minor islands is split into eight [[Regency (Indonesia)|regencies]] (local government divisions); from west to east these are [[Manggarai Barat]] (West Manggarai),<ref>Manggarai Barat District includes islands like [[Komodo (island)|Komodo]] and [[Rinca]] to the west of Flores</ref> [[Manggarai Regency|Manggarai]] (Central Manggarai), [[East Manggarai Regency|Manggarai Timur]] (East Manggarai), [[Ngada]], [[Nagekeo]], [[Ende Regency|Ende]], [[Sikka Regency|Sikka]] and part of [[Flores Timur]] (East Flores).<ref>Flores Timur District includes islands like [[Adonara]] and [[Solor]] to the east of Flores, for which the figures are excluded.</ref> Flores has 35.24% of the East Nusa Tenggara provincial population {{As of|2023|lc=y}}, and is the largest of all islands in the province, with the second-largest population (Timor has slightly more people).
