==Honours and Old Aswan Dam== [[File:Sir Benjamin Baker Blue Plaque Cheltenham.jpg|thumb|right|[[Blue plaque]] in [[Cheltenham]] at the site of Baker's former home]] On the completion of this undertaking in 1890 he was appointed Knight Commander of the [[Order of St Michael and St George]] (KCMG),<ref name=KCMG>{{London Gazette|issue=26029|page=1200 |date=4 March 1890}}</ref> and in the same year the [[Royal Society]] recognised his scientific attainments by electing him one of its fellows.
