== Translation ==
Carson has published translations of ten [[Greek tragedy|ancient Greek tragedies]] – one by [[Aeschylus]] (''[[Agamemnon (play)|Agamemnon]]''), two by [[Sophocles]] (''[[Antigone (Sophocles play)|Antigone]]'', ''[[Electra (Sophocles play)|Electra]]''), and seven by [[Euripides]] (''[[Alcestis (play)|Alcestis]]'', ''[[Hecuba (play)|Hecuba]]'', ''[[Herakles (Euripides)|Herakles]]'', ''[[Hippolytus (play)|Hippolytus]]'', ''[[Iphigenia in Tauris]]'', ''[[Orestes (play)|Orestes]]'', and ''[[The Bacchae]]'') – as well as the poetry of [[Sappho]] in English.

First editions of Carson's seven books of translations have been published by [[Alfred A. Knopf]], [[Farrar, Straus and Giroux]], the [[The New York Review of Books|New York Review of Books]], and the [[University of Chicago Press]] in the US, and by [[Oberon Books]] and the [[Oxford University Press]] in the UK.
