====Regattas and head races==== The River Wear is host to a number of [[regattas]] and [[head races]] throughout the year. These include: the Novice Cup, Wear Long Distance Sculls and Senate Cup in November and December; Durham Small Boats Head in February; Durham City Regatta in May; Durham Regatta and Admiral's Regatta in June; and Durham Primary Regatta in September.<ref name="River Wear"/> =====Durham Regatta===== {{main|Durham Regatta}} [[Durham Regatta]] has been held on the River Wear in Durham since 1834.
