The title of ''Taewang'' was also used by some rulers of [[Silla]] (57 BCβAD 935), including [[Beopheung of Silla|Beopheung]] and [[Jinheung of Silla|Jinheung]]. The rulers of [[Balhae]] (698β926) internally called themselves ''Seongwang'' ({{Korean|μ±μ|θη |labels=no }}; lit. "Holy King").<ref>[[:zh:s:ζ°εζΈ/ε·219|New Book of Tang, vol. 209]]</ref> The rulers of [[Goryeo]] (918β1392) used the titles of emperor and ''[[Son of Heaven]] of the East of the Ocean'' ({{Korean|ν΄λμ²μ|ζ΅·ζ±ε€©ε|labels=no}}). The Korean Empire lasted until 1910, when it was annexed by the [[Empire of Japan]].
