On 29 December 2023, Canadian referee Carmen Massel became the first female to work a game in the National Lacrosse League. She was the Shot Clock Official for the San Diego Seals vs Rochester Knighthawks game in San Diego, CA.{{Citation needed|date=November 2024}}
