===Underwater habitats===
There are plans to build [[underwater habitats]] in Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone. Currently no underwater city is constructed yet. For example, the Ocean Spiral by [[Shimizu Corporation]] would have a floating dome 500 meters in diameter with hotels, residential and commercial complexes. It could be 15&nbsp;km long. This allows mining of the seabed, research and production of methane from carbon dioxide with micro-organisms.
