== Xvid DVD player help ==

I bought a divx-certified DVD player that says it supports mp4 + xvid, but when i try to play any of my videos, they get really jittery and pixellated -- at some points it runs at about 1/1000th speed and the screen consists of 10 big coloured pixels. I burnt them onto high-quality (Magmedia, Verbatim) DVD+Rs at 2x. They are unscratched, and play fine on my PC; but they had similar errors on the other XviD player I tried.

What can I do to make them watchable?

Probably, when you make the videos ensure that you don't use GMC, or packed video.  You can fix the packed video problem easily, but GMC can only be fixed with a reencode.  Another solution is sometimes, a special keypress on the player.
Look up the player at www.videohelp.com, check out the special keypresses and compatibility ratings.  If there's no info, use the divxtest cd version 2, http://www.divxtest.com/sommaire.php3?lang=en.  It has videos you try to play and if one doesn't play then you know what the problem is.  Then you have to find a software which lets you control that feature and turn it off.  A good list at www.videohelp.com/tools, under encoding or converters or transcoding, or all in one or backup etc.
