It was formerly an independent group, but since 2012 has been a part of the charity [[Humanists UK]]. Humanists UK Chief Executive [[Andrew Copson]], who is gay, once wrote that "humanists have always been champions of LGBT rights" and cited his organisation's many years campaigning for decriminalisation and LGBT equality in the UK, including legal same-sex marriages.
