Within a day of the incident, ''The New York Post'' posted video footage of it.<ref name="Meko-2022"/> ''The New York Times'' described that the video "contradicted" Giuliani's account, showing Gill walking quickly past Giuliani, "patting him on the back", whereby Giuliani "wobbled slightly forward".<ref name="Meko-2022"/> ''The Hill'' described that the "video shows Giuliani barely moving after a ShopRite employee's hand makes contact with his back", while Giuliani responded that the "videotape that you see is probably a little deceptive", stressing that he was "hit very, very hard on the back.
