In March 2019, the Liepāja City Council decided to merge Secondary School No. 2 with Secondary School No. 12 to form a new secondary school, taking full advantage of the modernised learning environment of Secondary School No. 2,<ref>{{Cite web |title=Lēmums pieņemts. Liepāja Central Library has six branches and audio record library. Literature fund consists of about 460,000 copies and online catalogue.<ref name="library" /> Average annual number of visitors – 25000.
