The Boston Celtics logo features a [[leprechaun]] spinning a basketball, named Lucky, originally depicted with a large basketball for a background. The Celtics also have various alternative logos, with the most popular being a white [[shamrock]] with the letters "Celtics" above it, wrapped in a green circle, which has been used since the [[1998–99 NBA season|1998–99 season]]. The alternate logo is based on logos used by the Celtics before they used the Zang Auerbach leprechaun. For much of its history, the shamrock was trimmed in gold, as seen in the old team warmup jackets.
