The population density was {{convert|18,992.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 24,110 housing units at an average density of {{convert|12,821.0|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}, making West Hollywood one of the most densely populated cities in the US. The racial makeup of the city was 86.4% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 6.4% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 3.8% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.4% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.1% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 2.9% from [[Race (United States census)|other races]], and 3.4% from two or more races.
