In 2012, Aston announced he was leaving the show after criticising format changes that focused less on archaeological activities.<ref name=Conlan-2012-10-20/> Channel&nbsp;4 subsequently announced that the final ''Time Team'' series would be broadcast in 2013.<ref name=Conlan-2012-10-20/> Viewing figures had been in decline from 2.5&nbsp;million in 2008 to 1.5&nbsp;million in November 2011.<ref name=Conlan-2012-10-20/> The regular ''Time Team'' programme ended on 24&nbsp;March 2013. In October&nbsp;2013, Robinson said in an interview with ''[[Radio Times]]'' that he believed ''Time Team'' still had life in it and suggested that after a three- or four-year absence it could make a return.
