There is considerable uncertainty over who appeared in the film and a number of unsubstantiated claims have been made regarding participation. In her memoirs, Viola Tait claimed the part of Ned was played by a Canadian stunt actor, who deserted the project partway through.<ref name=Tait />

A 1944 article said the actors came from [[E.I. Cole|Cole's Dramatic Company]].
