They were then deified as Palaemon (Melicertes) and [[Leucothea]] (Ino). As Palaemon, Melicertes is often depicted mounted on a dolphin.

The site would be named ''Delphi'' to commemorate this event and Apollo would bear the epithet ''Delphinios''.
