There were 938 (7.1%) [[POSSLQ|unmarried opposite-sex partnerships]], and 111 (0.8%) [[same-sex partnerships|same-sex married couples or partnerships]]. 2,459 households (18.7%) were made up of individuals, and 1,231 (9.4%) had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.34. There were 9,987 [[family (U.S. Census)|families]] (75.9% of all households); the average family size was 3.81.

The population was spread out, with 14,487 people (32.8%) under the age of 18, 4,404 people (10.0%) aged 18 to 24, 11,885 people (26.9%) aged 25 to 44, 8,755 people (19.8%) aged 45 to 64, and 4,668 people (10.6%) who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30.3 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males.

The [[population density]] was 368.6/km{{sup|2}} (954.6/mi<sup>2</sup>). There were 9,476 housing units at an average density of 146.9/km{{sup|2}} (380.4/mi<sup>2</sup>). The racial makeup of the city was 69.3% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 2.7% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 2.3% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.1% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.2% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 19.5% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 4.9% from two or more races. 40.3% of the population was [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race.

The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.41.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 31.3% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,627, and the median income for a family was $34,717. Males had a median income of $31,764 versus $25,392 for females.
