Rock and roll was strongly influenced by R&B, according to many sources, including an article in ''[[The Wall Street Journal]]'' in 1985, titled, "Rock! It's Still Rhythm and Blues". In fact, the author stated that the "two terms were used interchangeably", until about 1957. The other sources quoted in the article said that rock and roll combined R&B with pop and country music.<ref>{{cite journal |url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/1214792 |title=Rock! [[Fats Domino]] was one of the biggest stars of rock and roll in the early 1950s and he was not convinced that this was a new genre. In 1957, he said: "What they call rock 'n' roll now is rhythm and blues. Less frequently cited as an influencer, [[LaVern Baker]] was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
