== Powers and duties ==
The premier is the highest administrative position in the [[government of China]]. The premier heads the State Council{{sfn|Shambaugh|2021|p=18}} and is responsible for organizing and administering the Chinese civil bureaucracy. The premier chairs the [[Plenary meeting of the State Council|plenary]] and [[Executive meeting of the State Council|executive meetings]] of the State Council.
