Midvale City has a nonpartisan mayor-council form of government. The Mayor and five Council members are elected to four-year terms. Fire protection and police services for Midvale City are provided by contracted arrangements with the [[Unified Fire Authority|Unified Fire Authority (UFA)]] of Greater Salt Lake and with the [[Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake|Unified Police Department (UPD)]] of Greater Salt Lake, respectively.
