In 2008, the word "Theatre" was dropped, and the show, officially known as ''Masterpiece'', was split into three different sections. As of 2017's broadcast of ''[[Victoria (British TV series)|Victoria]]'' series 1, ''Masterpiece Classic'' no longer aired with a regular host and the series was no longer branded as "Masterpiece Classic" but simply "Masterpiece".
