==Demographics== Kensington's current demographics result from the historical trend of [[white flight]]. The racial makeup of Kensington was 69.1% [[White Americans|White]], 1.9% [[African Americans|African American]], 0.2% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]], 13.4% [[Asian Americans|Asian]], 0.1% [[Pacific Islander Americans|Pacific Islander]], 1.9% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 13.4% from two or more races. [[Hispanic and Latino Americans|Hispanic or Latino]] of any race were 7.2% of the population. The census reported that 99.8% of the population lived in households, 0.2% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized. There were 2,220 households, out of which 27.3% included children under the age of 18, 57.4% were married-couple households, 4.8% were [[cohabitation|cohabiting]] couple households, 25.3% had a female householder with no partner present, and 12.5% had a male householder with no partner present. 24.2% of households were one person, and 15.1% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.44. There were 1,533 [[family (U.S. Census)|families]] (69.1% of all households). The age distribution was 17.7% under the age of 18, 5.1% aged 18 to 24, 20.3% aged 25 to 44, 28.1% aged 45 to 64, and 28.9% who were 65{{nbsp}}years of age or older. The median age was 50.5{{nbsp}}years. For every 100 females, there were 88.1 males. There were 2,334 housing units at an average density of {{convert|2,421.2|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units |units|}}, of which 2,220 (95.1%) were occupied.
