Hydrazine is a precursor to several pharmaceuticals and pesticides. Often these applications involve conversion of hydrazine to [[Heterocyclic compound|heterocyclic rings]] such as [[pyrazole]]s and [[pyridazine]]s. Examples of commercialized bioactive [[Hydrazines|hydrazine derivatives]] include [[cefazolin]], [[rizatriptan]], [[anastrozole]], [[fluconazole]], metazachlor, metamitron, [[metribuzin]], [[paclobutrazol]], diclobutrazole, [[propiconazole]], [[hydrazine sulfate]],<ref name="OrgSynth"/> [[diimide]], [[triadimefon]],<ref name="Ullmann"/> and the [[Diacylhydrazine insecticide|diacylhydrazine]] insecticides.
