The city is the home of Gaslight Theater,<ref name="auto">{{cite web|url=https://www.gaslighttheater.org/|title=Gaslight Theater – The oldest continuously operating theater in Maine|access-date=November 22, 2019}}</ref> one of Maine's oldest community theater companies.

The Hallowell Farmers' Market takes place every Saturday from 9:00&nbsp;am until 12:00&nbsp;pm at Stevens Commons.
