As of the [[2000 United States census|2000 census]], 1,622 people, 664 households, and 438 families resided in the county. The [[Race (United States Census)|racial makeup]] of the county was 84.16% White, 3.27% Black or African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 10.23% from other races, and 1.54% from two or more races.
