===FIRST=== In 1989, Kamen founded [[For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology|FIRST]] (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization intended to build students' interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics ([[Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics|STEM]]).
