=== Government === Crestwood is a [[Council–manager government|Council–manager]] village. The mayor with the approval of the village board appoints a village manager to oversee the daily affairs of the village. The current village manager is William Graffeo, who has served in that role since 2010. Crestwood's government used to rebate to its residents a portion of their property and other municipal tax payments. It was praised by proponents of [[small government]] for its low taxes and cheap government.<ref>{{cite web |author=Dennis Byrne |date=November 1, 2007 |title=Mayor Returns $48 Million to Taxpayers, Then Retires |url=http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=22111 |archive-url=https://archive.today/20120801093647/http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=22111 |url-status=dead |archive-date=August 1, 2012 |access-date=January 17, 2010 |publisher=The Heartland Institute }}</ref> Crestwood's rebates ended in 2009 so that the village could pay the legal fees associated with the contaminated water scandal.<ref>{{cite web |title=Winners in water scandal?
