The 14th century recipe collection the ''[[Forme of Cury]]'' gives a recipe including ''good [[apple]]s, good [[spice]]s, [[ficus|fig]]s, [[raisin]]s and [[pear]]s'' in a {{Lang|enm|cofyn}}, a casing of pastry.
