===Literature=== [[Julia Catherine Beckwith]], born in Fredericton, was Canada's first published novelist. Poet [[Bliss Carman]] and his cousin [[Charles G. D. Roberts]] were some of the first Canadians to achieve international fame for letters. [[Antonine Maillet]] was the first non-European winner of France's [[Prix Goncourt]]. Other modern writers include [[Alfred Bailey (poet)|Alfred Bailey]], [[Alden Nowlan]], [[John Thompson (Canadian poet)|John Thompson]], [[Douglas Lochhead]], [[K. V. Johansen]], [[David Adams Richards]], and [[France Daigle]]. A recent New Brunswick Lieutenant-Governor, [[Herménégilde Chiasson]], is a poet and playwright.
